CASE STUDY: A Fast-Track Coupling Solution for Pump Rental Company

When a critical pump was out of action for a leading UK pump rental company, extended downtime meant money lost. The issue? A heavily damaged coupling element that needed urgent identification and replacement. With the OEM quoting a lead time of three to four weeks, the downtime posed a significant financial risk. Every day the pump sat idle meant lost revenue, making a quick solution essential.

ACORN’s specialists wasted no time in getting stuck into the issue. Business Development Manager, Michael Turl and Couplings & Drives Product Manager, Tom Fowler visited the site, assessed the damaged coupling, and measured the hubs. By identifying an alternative solution the same day, they were able to propose a readily available Centaflex coupling, cutting out the lengthy OEM wait time.

The replacement coupling was sourced and delivered the very next day. With the pump swiftly repaired and returned to service, the customer avoided weeks of costly downtime and disruption.

By utilising in-stock alternatives, ACORN provided an immediate and effective solution, saving three weeks of potential downtime. For a pump rental business (where assets need to be out in the field to generate revenue) speed was paramount, and ACORN delivered.

Following the successful resolutions, ACORN conducted a follow-up visit to explore further opportunities for cost and time savings. The investigation uncovered several other components: Bowex couplings, tyre couplings, FAG bearings, and Petro-Canada lubricants. ACORN will introduce stock to the customer's local branch in order to provide even greater efficiency and reliability for the customer moving forward.

With expertise, rapid response, and a customer-first approach, ACORN continues to keep essential equipment running, because downtime isn’t an option.
