Machined rings, made from high quality carbon chromium bearing steel, locate the needle rolling elements to permit axial load.
SKF needle roller bearings with machined rings are commonly found on gearboxes, as well as small machine tools where space is limited.
Benefits of SKF needle roller bearings with machined rings include:
- These bearings have amongst the lowest cross section of all bearings, ideal for applications where space is limited.
- Despite their low cross section, these bearings have an extremely high radial load carrying capacity.
- The machined rings allow for axial loads in both directions, as long as there isn’t a flange on both the inner and outer rings.
- The large number of small diameter rollers means that this assembly has a high level of stiffness.
- Radial space can be further reduced by removing the inner ring, if the shaft can be hardened and ground.
