Linear Guides or Guide Rails
Linear Guides, sometimes called Linear Guide Rails, often form the heart of linear motion systems, offering smooth and accurate positioning. Linear Guides are used with high loads, velocities and accelerations.
At Acorn, we provide a range of Guides that offer a solution for the vast majority of linear guide applications.
THK Linear Guides
THK are the world leader in linear motion guides with an extensive range of high quality, innovative products. THK very much represents the global standard in linear motion guides.
All THK linear motion guide types are available from acorn ~ HSR, SR, SHS, SSR, SRS, HRW, SHW, NR, NRS, RSR, GSR, CSR, JR, HCR & HMG
We hold extensive stocks of THK rails and carriages, ready for immediate delivery. We have an invested in a precision cutting machine, which allows us to offer rail/carriage assemblies to your exact requirements from stock.
At acorn we have the following available from stock:
HSR. A global standard size LM Guide in which each row of balls is placed at a contact angle of 45° so that the rated loads applied to the LM block are uniform in the four directions (radial, reverse radial and lateral directions), enabling the LM Guide to be used in all orientations.
SR. Since it is a compactly designed model that has a low sectional height and a ball contact structure capable of receiving a large load in the radial direction, this LM Guide is optimal for horizontal guide units.
SHS. Since each row of balls is arranged at a contact angle of 45°, this model can be used in all directions.

SSR. The compact design with a low sectional height and the ball contact structure at 90° in the radial direction make this model an optimal model for horizontal guide units.
HRW Due to a low center-of-gravity structure with a large rail width and a low overall height, this LM Guide model can be used in places where space saving is required or high rigidity against a moment is required even with a single rail.

SHW. Since its LM rail has a wide structure with a low center of gravity, this 4/way equal load LM Guide achieves a high Mc moment.
SKF Profile Rail Guides
Profile guide rails from SKF usually consist of a profile rail with four precision ground raceways and a slide unit with four ball circulation paths. This design offers many benefits: the raceway configuration allows a guidance system with high rigidity and capable of withstanding loads in all directions; inaccuracies of adjacent components and mounting surfaces can be more greatly tolerated; installation and adjustment procedures are reduced to a minimum.
High operational speeds are possible together with quiet running and a very low coefficient of friction. Running accuracy is assured throughout the operational life of the system. Guides with a specific preload can be specified and there is a wide choice of carriage type.

IKO Linear Guides
This leading Japanese manufacturer offers a comprehensive range of linear motion systems. IKO roller guides are world renowned for their high load capacities and smooth movement.
The IKO Linear Roller Way Super X is a high performance roller type linear motion rolling guide that features high reliability, high rigidity, high accuracy and smooth motion. Four rows of cylindrical rollers are incorporated in a highly rigid casing. The rollers in each row are arranged in parallel to each other. Owing to its small elastic deformation, stable operation is ensured even under heavy or fluctuating loads. This series of guides is also suitable for vibration and shock loads.
Sizes range from 12 to 100 and a variety of carriage types are available.
