Winners of the 2009 Business Growth Award

Acorn is proud to announce its success at the Rotherham Business Awards which took place recently. Already recognised in the Barber Harrison & Platt Rapid Growth Survey 2009, as one of the top 30 companies for growth in South Yorkshire, Acorn has now been chosen as the winner of the Business Link Yorkshire - Business Growth Award for 2009.
The award follows Acorn’s success at last year’s Sheffield Business Awards, when it won the Irwin Mitchell Excellence in Customer Service Award.

Acorn Midlands Branch Celebrates it's Ten Year Anniversary

Andy Stokes, Acorn Midland's Branch Manager, has a double celebration this year. As the branch enteres it's tenth year, Andy also celabrates his 10 year service with Acorn.

Andy was the first employee of Acorn Midland's - there from the first day of opening in 1999, Andy has played a key role in the branches success, along with Rob Bird (6yrs), Kerry Downing (6yrs) and Scott Norman (2 yrs).

Birmingham is well known within the industry as being a hot spot for bearing and power transmission suppliers. Acorn is perfectly positioned, both in terms of geographically and within the bearing & transmission market, to provide these suppliers with the products they need, when they need them. Acorn Wins Sheffield Business Award for Excellence in Customer Service

Acorn's reputation for high quality customer service and after sales care was recognised last night with the award for Excellence in Customer Service at the Sheffield Business Awards at Ponds Forge. The award, which was received by members of Acorn's team from Rotherham, comes at the end of what is already a memorable 25th anniversary year for Acorn and will definitely make 2008 a year to remember.

After a record number of entries, 47 companies and individuals made the shortlist for the 13 categories in the Awards, organised by Sheffield Chamber of Commerce. The awards are designed to recognise and reward Sheffield City Region business success. The event is now firmly established as the city region's premier showcase of enterprise.

Before a capacity audience at SIV's Ponds Forge, the Awards celebrated the cream of the city's business community.

The Irwin Mitchell Excellence in Customer Service Award had a set of criteria which the winning company had to demonstrate. These were in recognition of a company that demonstrates outstanding levels of customer service and satisfaction in all aspects of sales and after care services.

Applicants had to demonstrate evidence in ALL of the following areas:

• A clear and consistent customer service policy is implemented throughout the organisation, linked to specific training and development of staff.
• A robust mechanism for measuring and evaluating customer feedback, demonstrating year on year improvement.
• Procedures for timely and effective management of customer complaints.
• Evidence of strong customer loyalty as a result of excellent customer service.

THK Appoint Acorn Industrial Services as Distributor

Bearing and transmission distributor Acorn Industrial Services Ltd today announced a new alliance with the leading linear guidance manufacturer-THK. The new distributorship has also prompted a £100,000 investment by Acorn's Linear Division into new machinery and THK stock.

As the alliance with THK was formed, Acorn took a key decision to invest in a precision abrasive wheel cutting machine to cut linear rails. This very high quality machine will enable Acorn to supply rails to a customer's exact specifications and despatch the items within 24 hours - eliminating the long delivery times traditionally associated with linear guidance systems.

In addition, Acorn Linear has invested heavily in THK products to ensure they can satisfy customer requirements from stock. THK is the leading manufacturer of linear motion systems with over 2,800 employees and a world market share of approximately 50%. When asked about the appointment, Mark Foster, THK U.K.'s Sales Manager, commented.
